Hanging a piece of art on the wall makes it
look good and different. It always increases the aesthetic quotient of the
walls as well as the rooms.
One can go for a large wall painting when
they are adorning the walls or can pick some framed sets for living room. No matter if it is a canvas wall art
or some smaller art works, making proper placements of those pieces can be a
bit daunting sometimes. So, one should follow certain tips or tricks to make
things easier.
- If one chooses a painting, then they needs to put it on the floor or a table properly before hanging them on the wall. Then one needs to move the pieces around till one gets the right arrangement. One can also mark the hanging points accordingly and then try to hang them up on the wall.
- If one has narrow walls then they should always go for smaller pieces of art works. If they have big walls, then it is a good idea to go for large canvas wall art pieces. Also, the middle of the piece of art work has to be at the eye level.
- If one wants to hang a piece of art work over a piece of a furniture, then the painting should not be wider than the width of the furniture. According to the general rule, the piece of art has to be 75 percent of the furniture as per width.
- If one chooses even number of art work pieces as tightly grouped then it can work as a great balance at the larger space or at high walls. Large space always needs larger spacing. If one wants to put up a group of art works at narrow spaces like a stair landing then it will give a kind of window effect. Then one needs to choose light colours as it can enhance the effect.
- When it is a sofa wall or a hallway then one should hang the art in a horizontal manner so that some volume can be achieved. In those cases a normal spacing of 4 to 6 inches is recommended.
- Asymmetrical arrangements look
great on art pieces that are similar in size, shape, and subject matter. This method actually allows one to create a
grouping that has visual balance and is perfect over large furniture
collections.
- Grouping larger and smaller
pieces helps to create interest and energy. The same is true for vertical and
horizontal pieces in the same grouping. When one is grouping four or more than
four art pieces then one should consider a vertical line so that the art can be
visually balanced in both sides of the vertical line.
When one is decorating their living rooms,
then large framed pictures for living room can be a great idea and if one has
wooden walls then it can be the perfect surface. Ordinary and plastered walls
are also okay if the colours are coordinated with the furniture there.
